Homelike and original log house

Log house is the summer cottage of your dreams

Kramer’s log houses are built to last. In order to achieve the best quality, we use knowledge gathered during centuries and conveyed from fathers to sons by our ancestors as much as possible. Our goal is to be natural, using materials like timber, stone, reed/thatching, and linum (flax).

For most Estonians a dream summerhouse is namely a log house. The log’s natural form, warm and soft tones of timber, subtle cracks of planking, the sound of rain dripping on thatched roof, the cosy feeling created by the crackling of fire in the chimney, soothing sound of sea waves, birdsong: those are the reminiscences etched indelibly in the mind that a real summerhouse should be able to evoke again.

One may experience all those miraculous and elusive sensations in Kramer’s natural log houses. Be build using ancient deftness and our goal is to convey the best traditions and experiences to future generations.

Manually peeled, natural log guarantees the best quality

Unlike others companies providing handmade log houses, Kramer only uses timber garnered in winter and dried multiple times. Besides natural drying process, all logs go through an additional drying process before being used in log walls.

Our experience shows that only correctly dried logs enable the building of high-grade houses, considering the frenetic/rapid tempo of building nowadays. Building from repeatedly dried logs reduces the risk of [the building] slumping/lapsing due to natural drying process of the material. It also eliminates the necessity of processing the logs with specific chemicals or bleach to remove woad or fungal detriment caused by humidity.

Ancient and modern are blended in log house

Contrary to the houses built of milled logs, where the logs are all alike due to the use of machinery, every log in Kramer’s houses is fitted with another according to its natural form.

We use different techniques in miter joints to achieve the desired strength, surface appearance and protection from cold and water. As all manually peeled logs preserve their natural form and every log is different, Kramer’s log houses are all different and unique despite their similar design.

Besides being old and traditional, our log houses offer all conveniences expected from a contemporary house. All Kramer’s houses are equipped with water, electricity and sewage. Every house has a sauna and shower, electrically heated stone floors and a boiler with sufficient capacity for the entire family. The brands used include Oras, Ido, Abloy, Whirlpool etc.
